help you understand of some of the terms used
in this section.
BAC- Blood Alcohol Content. In
Florida, the legal standard for drunkenness is
0.08 grams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. This
is a BAC of .08
Ignition Interlock Device- This device incapacitates
vehicle ignition systems when the driver has a
BAC above .05. The driver's BAC must be tested
by blowing into a tube before starting the car.
SR-22-This
is the form an insurance company must file when
a driver covered by their policy is convicted
of DUI. It provides future proof of insurance
to the state motor vehicle agency so that the
driver may reinstate their license.
Zero
Tolerance Law- This Florida DUI law was
passed in 1997 and provides for the administrative
license suspension of any driver under the age
of 21 who is found to have a BAC (Blood Alcohol
Content) of .02 or greater.
